South Shore Dance Alliance (SSDA), a 501c3 organization, is a premiere contemporary dance company and studio in Northwest Indiana. It is the flagship occupant of the South Shore Centre for the Arts, 665 S. Lake Street, at the gateway to Gary’s Miller neighborhood and arts district. Home to award-winning dancers, faculty, and choreographers, SSDA was founded on principles of strong work ethic, outstanding discipline, technical expertise, and a love and passion for dance that is embraced by students, performers, and audiences.

SSDA believes that no aspiring dancer shall be denied access to training due to lack of financial resources and its scholarship program is fundamental to its mission.

Classes are available for all skill levels, beginning at age 4 through adult. Students with little previous dance training can build a solid foundation in ballet and contemporary technique, while more experienced students will find their skills nurtured and polished with many performance opportunities while training in a supportive, healthy dance environment, surrounded by a faculty of working professional artists.

2010 curriculum will include ballet, Horton, Graham, and Dunham modern techniques, jazz/funk, ballroom, and tap. All classes are taught by professional faculty and will prepare serious students for the next level in their dance career.
